We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional to join our growing team. This role will play an integral part in all aspects of accounting operations and a wide variety of finance projects. As a vital member of the team, you’ll arrive as MarketerHire moves through an exciting stage of growth and get to see the lasting impact of your hard work. This is a remote position that will report to the Controller.
5+ years in an accounting role at a startup or in a similar industry
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
Extraordinary attention to detail - someone who gets it right the first time
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize multiple projects efficiently
Excel/Google Sheets experience is a must
Experience in large volume payment processing or handling complex reconciliations
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capability
Experience preparing GAAP financials
Experience using QBO, A/R and A/P software
Month-End & General Ledger
Ensure accurate and timely execution of monthly close in accordance with GAAP.
Prepare monthly accounting entries for various business transactions, including prepaid assets, accruals, and more.
Review cash and expense classifications.
Preparation and/or review of monthly account reconciliations and flux analysis.
Report weekly and monthly metrics to the VP Finance and other stakeholders.
Conduct weekly, month over month and actual vs. budget analyses and communicate across all functions.
Oversee weekly customer billing and freelancer payments and collaborate with the Finance Associate to address any payment issues that arise.
Brainstorm workflow improvements in the billing process.
Offer expertise in other payment topics such as credit card processing, client collections, chargebacks etc.
When relevant, assist with financial audit preparation, and annual, quarterly, and monthly tax filings.
Compile data using various systems and explore automation opportunities with new vendors.
In the first month you will
Hold deep-dive sessions with the finance team to become familiar with current processes and workflows.
Become acquainted with the cross-functional teams that you will be working alongside.
Gain an understanding of the core monthly and weekly reporting metrics that drive the business.
Learn the current close process and start owning journal entries and reconciliations in Quickbooks.
In the first three months you will
Own monthly reporting and analysis along with budget and forecast updates.
Know the customer billing process from end to end and actively work on improvements with the tech team.
Update weekly metrics for the executive team each Monday.
Provide input and recommend improvements for audit readiness.
Prove your reliability when it comes to timely updates and maintaining our high standard of reporting.
